Sea Of Tears

The grey of morning shows no sympathy
The black of midnight offers no reprieve
And the sea is green with envy as I think of those that wait back home
Possessive waves rise up to capture me

No prize of glory fame or gold
Could take away this kind of pain
The clouds are merciless and cold
As hammers down the pouring rain

But still we must obey the call
So load the guns and fire
The water claims the ones that fall
The wind grows ever higher

Blood runs red and flows into the sea
Crimson waves that rise to swallow me
Out beyond this sea of tears our freedom shines to guide us home
Fire your cannons -- we can all be free

Explosions crack the noonday sky
And carry into twilight
Followed by the anguished cries
That rise into the night

The promises we left behind
Are all that we have to drive us on
So take the orders -- toe the line
And push this battle into dawn

Blood runs red and flows into the sea
Crimson waves that rise to swallow me
Out beyond this sea of tears our freedom shines to guide us home
Fire your cannons -- we can all be free

Smoke appears to stretch for miles
Turn and fire broadside
Still the inner battle rivals
The war that's on the outside

The winds of change are often cruel
And raking fire takes us
Forever stained to red from blue
The ocean finally claims us

Blood runs red and flows into the sea
Crimson waves forever swallow me
Damned upon this sea of tears -- four hundred ghosts that can't go home
Still your cannons -- dead men can't be free
